HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN... (Trad arr Alan Price)
A classic song brought right up to date. Rising Sun was the biggest hit for The Animals, charting at No 1 in the UK in June 1964 and then No 1 in the USA two months later. It was later re-released twice in the UK in 1972 and 1982, again charting both times
IT'S MY LIFE. (Atkins)
This song is given the powerful protest song treatment by The Rock Animals. The song originally reached No7 in the UK and No20 in the USA in 1965
WE'VE GOTTA GET OUT OF THIS PLACE (Mann/Weil)
Not surprisingly, this song stayed at No1 for three years in the American Forces chart during the Vietnam War. It reached No2 in the UK and No14 in the USA in 1965. It’s always a great song to end The Rock Animals show.
I'M CRYIN (Burdon/Price)
This is possibly the heaviest song in the Rock Animals set; mainly due to Harry Hiroshima Hill’s astounding double bass drum work, blasting it into a new era. It originally charted in the UK at No8 and the USA at No 17 in 1964, and was the only hit that was actually penned by two of the original Animals; Eric Burdon and Alan Price.
PLEASE DON'T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD (Benjamin/Marcus/Coldwell)
First recorded by Nina Simone, The Animals charted with their own version at UK No3 and USA No 15 in 1965.
BRING IT ON HOME TO ME (Sam Cooke)
A BIG BIG ballad, and with a new arrangement by the Rock Animals. This song originally hit UK No7, USA No32 and No1 in Scandinavia in 1965.
DON'T BRING ME DOWN (Gerry Goffin/Carole King)
This is another big protest song given the Rock Animals treatment. It originally reached UK No6 and USA No11 in 1966
I BELIEVE TO MY SOUL (Ray Charles)
Taken from The Animal’s No7 hit album ‘Animal Tracks’ in 1966. This very soulful Ray Charles track is given the classic Rock Animals treatment bringing it right up to date, but with Tony Liddle’s vocals still capturing the song’s original soulful feel.
BABY LET ME TAKE YOU HOME (Russell/Farrell)
Possibly the most ‘poppy’ song The Animals ever recorded, this was their first ever hit and it reached UK No 21 in 1964.
CC RIDER (Trad arr Rowberry)
USA No10 in 1966 and it was also a big hit in France.
BOOM BOOM (John Lee Hooker)
USA No35 in 1964
SAN FRANCISCAN NIGHTS (Burdon/Briggs/Weider/Jenkins/McCulloch)
UK No8 and USA No7 in 1967
SKY PILOT
UK N040 and USA No14 in 1968
INSIDE LOOKING OUT
A brilliant version of this song is brought to you by The Rock Animals featuring Tony's vocals at their absolute finest.
UK No12 and USA No34 in 1966
